Wow, skip over the entire month of June and almost all of July. I really suck at this whole blogging thing. I feel like I should call this blog “The Outlaws past few months,” cause all I ever really do is post over the past several months I haven’t been keeping y’all up to date. You’d think though with the free time I have on my hands I could zombie blog a little more.

I hate sitting in limbo. I feel like I’m sitting here twiddling my thumbs while I wait for the world to catch up to me.

There have been a lot of developments since my last post on here. I believe, where we last left off, I was happily enjoying my summer waiting for fall to start back up at UTA. The plan at that time was to get out of the Interdisciplinary Studies lane and switch over to the Music department and work on just Music Production. I thought it was awesome that there was a Music Production program at the school I was already at. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be, and I guess I should have figured since it’s grouped under the Music department, and not a technical department like Broadcast Communications or something.

Why does that matter, you ask? Well, it being a subset of the Music department, there is a strong emphasis on musical performance. That’s great and all, but all I play is bass, and dabble with the keys. It’s been over 5 years since I’ve touched an instrument with which I could play sheet music with. And you know that with the ensembles they’d put me in they’d be assigning music of a classical nature. Classical music, like the music I played and despised my senior year of high school; the kind of stuff that almost made me hate music. That chapter of my life is closed, and I don’t anticipate ever opening it again unless I find myself needing to record an orchestra or something. Even if I thought they’d let me play bass guitar to a classical piece, it would make me hate it, and I would end up turning my back on yet another passion.

I’ve been through enough majors, and I don’t honestly know if I could survive another realignment of core values and constants. So, Music is out at UTA. Interdisciplinary Studies is out too, because I could tell that was a dead end street anyways. Most of the departments I wanted to draw classes from were unwilling to play ball. I could do Broadcast Communications at UTA, but I’m just not that impressed with what their department has to offer. UTA has been proving to be another dead end for me, just like it was before I went to TCC.

So, I knocked it out of the park at TCC, and UTA is a no go, where do I turn? That’s two of my previous home bases that I can’t use anymore. And it’s guaranteed that OU won’t have anything that appeals to me anymore, with the exception of all the hot southern Baptist girls. Right.

So I’ve done a lot of looking around and after a lot of deliberating, I’ve decided on UNT, and their Radio/Television/Film department. There are a lot of specialized Music Production schools out there, but I’d more than likely be shelling out something like $75,000 for a year or less of training, and I’d definitely be moving quite a ways to go do it. UNT sounds like a good option. It’s about an hour or so from my place of birth, and there is a budding music scene in Denton, I should be able to get myself in some internships up there.

That’s all well and good, but it took me a while to arrive at this decision. Now, I’m waiting on UNT to admit me, and let me undergo orientation. This is also holding me up on housing, cause I’m obviously not going to sign a year-lease without knowing that I’m admitted yet or not. It’s a waiting game, and I’m a very patient person, so I’m the best player for this game. But there are deadlines at play here. The last orientation session is July 29th, and some of the apartments I’ve been looking at begin move in on August 1st. I’ve also got a bachelor party coming up on the 13th, and a week in California immediately after that. It’s getting thick pretty quick, and UNT needs to keep up with me.

So hear I sit, waiting for UNT to get back to me, and telling all y’all about it in the process. That’s where I stand and what I’ve been up to for the past couple of months.

OH! I also got myself some new business cards. Observe!

Once things settle down I can start doing a little business for myself on the side. That kind of exciting. If you’re interested in doing some business or just want to pick up a card with the un(BLACKED OUT DETAILS), you can find the details for my Facebook and Twitter accounts listed over here on the right. —>

Well, look for more info in another couple of months, where I will hopefully be reporting on blissful events up in Denton. Keep your fingers crossed!

Keep your heads up, your minds sharp, and your hearts open.
